Amit Mukherjee
Amit is an investment banker with over 33 years of rich and varied experience in the corporate sector.
After spending his initial years at Larsen & Toubro, Amit spent a large part of his investment banking career at Lazards, a global Wall Street firm, where he was a Managing Director and member of the executive management board. He was also with Ambit Corporate Finance, as a shareholder, Managing Director and a board member.
Amit has held a range of advisory roles, and has participated in the World Economic Forum at Davos, and Business Delegations to the U.S.
Boris Siperstein
Boris is Partner of Lighthouse Funds, a US-based private equity group, with operations including its India 2020 fund, which invests in lower-middle market companies.
In his work at Lighthouse, Boris sees the realities of Indian development, and the challenges associated with it, including the need to build a path for exit to India’s underserved masses. Boris’s background includes strategy and operational roles at technology companies including Electronic Data Systems, Encryptix, and Day Software.
Dr. Deepa Narayan
Deepa is a researcher, author and academic with 25 years development experience in Asia and Africa.
She is best known as the lead author of Voices of the Poor, a multi-country research initiative to understand poverty from the eyes of the poor, gathering the voices of over 60,000 women and men in 60 countries and published by Oxford University Press. One of her latest books is ‘Moving Out of Poverty: The Promise of Empowerment and Democracy in India’. Until recently Deepa was Senior Advisor to the President of the World Bank in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network.
Matthew Spacie, MBE, Chair
Matthew is CEO and founder of Magic Bus, Dasra’s first investment. Magic Bus is a non-profit sector leader, which empowers children and youth to develop and discover through sport.
Matthew had a highly successful early career, and at 30 was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Cox and Kings India, then India’s largest travel company. He also went on to create Cleartrip, India’s 2nd largest online travel company. Matthew has been pivotal in winning a number of awards for Magic Bus including the World Bank Development Market Place award in 2005. He speaks internationally on sport for development and sits on a number of boards and advisory panels. He was awarded an MBE (Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain) in 2007, is an Ashoka Fellow and is an Ambassador for Tony Blair’s global initiative ‘Beyond Sport’.
Nina Godiwalla
Nina is currently writing a book on investment banking and is a contributing writer to the Austin Business Journal.
In the past Nina has worked with Omnicom, Johnson & Johnson, Oxygen Media, New York City Investment Fund, and Morgan Stanley. Nina has played an active role with numerous nonprofit organizations, including St. Luke's Emergency Room and Akanksha. She received a Bachelors of Business Administration from The University Texas at Austin, a Masters in Arts from Dartmouth, and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
Tarun Jotwani
Tarun is Senior Managing Director and Head of Global Fixed Income of Nomura, based in Tokyo.
He is also on the Board of Nomura Securities Co. Ltd. Prior to the takeover, Tarun was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lehman Brothers, India, and is on the Board of Directors for the Asia Society, India Centre.
