Advisory Services - Peer-to-Peer Learning Exchanges A lot of critical time is wasted trying to re-invent the wheel. Non profit organizations working in isolation often have the same missions, objectives and programs. What they lack is the opportunity to share their experiences, lessons learned, and best practices. Dasra facilitates learning exchanges that provide key insights for growth and development. Connecting in this way rekindles the passion, strengthens the response, and helps coordinate the effort.
Rural Organization for Society and Education (ROSE) – Helping Communities Learn from One Another
The Asian Tsunami of 2004 devastated many communities on India’s southeast coast. Hundreds of thousands of people were left particularly vulnerable because they were not equipped to deal with large-scale natural disasters. However, some coastal communities were not hit quite as hard as others because of their capabilities in disaster mitigation. Recognizing this, Dasra coordinated learning exchanges between the fishermen of Andhra Pradesh, whose community task forces are experienced in minimizing the damage caused by the region’s yearly cyclones, and the relatively inexperienced fisherman communities of Tamil Nadu.

GFC - Global Fund for Children: A rich sharing of best practices
The Global Fund for Children (GFC) has a strong grant making history, and it is well aware of the potential that can come from committing resources to strengthen the organizational capacity of its grantee partners. Recently, GFC offered organizational development grants to seven of its partners in South Asia, helping them to focus on strategic, financial, and operational issues. The goal was to enable them to deliver more efficient and effective programs to children, youth and their communities. Ultimately, GFC wanted to assist their grantee partners in becoming more dynamic, responsive and sustainable.
