COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The communications associate will be responsible for creating timely, passionate, clear and compelling communications in support of Dasra’s efforts. The communications associate will develop and edit content for a variety of projects, including materials to promote or directly solicit private support for the organization. The communications associate will collaborate with colleagues to ensure that written materials reflect key themes identified by Dasra’s senior management. The communications associate will have a key role in the development of various print and electronic projects, including funding proposals for individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations; reports for donors; and project summaries for a diverse array of fundraising goals.
Write, prepare and edit a wide variety of materials in support of Dasra’s development initiatives – types of projects include, but are not limited to, proposals for solicitation of major gifts; acknowledgement letters; brochures; annual reports; e-newsletter articles; donor briefs; website updates
Ensure that all written materials are produced in a timely manner or by stated deadline; error-free in final form; appropriately researched; and, revised as directed and prepared for delivery
Develop system for regular donor updates; write, edit and disseminate updates
Conduct research as needed to complete assigned projects, using the internet; contacting nonprofit organizations; interviewing donors, staff, and others
Manage the production and printing of projects as assigned
Maintain and update hard copy and computer files of all correspondence and solicitations and compile data library on background information needed for solicitations
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Proven superior writing and editing skills with extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation
Strong editing and proofreading skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and compose clear and persuasive prose
Proficiency in computing applications, including e-mail, Windows, Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint and Internet navigation tools
Demonstrated ability to balance long and short term projects in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, leaving room for urgent projects
Effective listening skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College degree required; preferable fields of study are Journalism, Communications, or Public Relations
5 to 7 years of experience writing in a professional setting; development writing experience is preferred
Teamwork experience in a fast paced environment is also preferred
PROJECT MANAGER

PROJECT MANAGER
The project manager will spend a significant amount of time in the field providing capacity building and technical assistance to non-profit organizations. The individual will work closely with non-profit organizations and donors at both the grassroots and management level to develop organizational capacity and resolve strategic, financial and operational issues. Although the person will be based in Dasra’s Mumbai office, extensive travel will be expected across India and the subcontinent.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess organizational needs of NPO partners and strengthen their operational and programmatic capacity (through various interventions based on organizational need, e.g. strategic planning, impact assessment, development of management information systems)
Prepare, compile, draft and proofread site visit reports, quarterly updates and sector overviews for donors.
Conduct due diligence of NPO capacity, impact and growth potential.
Coordinate and facilitate learning exchanges, donor delegations, and workshops.
Work closely with NPO partners to maximize the return on investments made in the NPOs.
Manage donor communications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-graduate degree/diploma from a recognized university required
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the development sector, preferably with grassroots experience. Individuals with applicable experience in the corporate sector also are encouraged to apply.
Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
Expertise in at least one of the following areas: organizational development, monitoring and evaluation, or thematic expertise in education, children/youth, social enterprise, or another related development-related topic.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as a member of a diverse team are mandatory.
Fluency in oral and written English and Hindi is essential.
Must be comfortable working with a flexible and demanding work schedule and environment
Outstanding organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing situations. Able to multi-task and prioritize while performing a variety of tasks with minimal direction.
Computer literate
Ability to self-initiate and make decisions.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to assure effective and efficient operations. This individual will support a wide variety of ongoing projects and non profit organization partners.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports 8 staff members (although this will significantly increase in the coming year) by taking on administrative functions tied to work with donors, funding agencies and nonprofit organization partners.
Coordinates logistics, material preparation and schedules for workshops, conferences, donor trips and other engagements with donor and non-profit partners.
Coordinates food, beverage and travel for the organization.
Drafts correspondence.
Supports Dasra's technical needs, including interacting with service providers (e.g. internet provider)
Compiles and distributes notes from meetings
Supports additional administrative functions, including filing, couriering and other tasks as required.
Maintains and updates organizational database.
Keeps the office well stocked of office supplies and other miscellaneous goods.
Manages paper filing systems for the organization.

Strong writing skills
Experience in planning and coordinating workshops, donor trips, and conferences

High school diploma
