The Indian Philanthropy Forum

The Indian Philanthropy Forum is a dynamic community of philanthropists who are committed to high impact solutions to poverty in India.

India post 1991 has seen unprecedented wealth creation. In 2008 India led the world in high net worth individuals growth at a staggering 22.7% and currently has the largest numbers of billionaires in the developing world. Along with this we have seen a growing interest in giving back. The Indian Philanthropy Forum aims to build on this momentum to create a community of influential people driving social change.

Members will be taken on a journey exploring the landscape of philanthropy in India; hearing awe-inspiring stories from front line organizations and trailblazing philanthropists; witnessing the challenges confronting India with insightful and trustworthy counsel on strategies for change.  We believe that members will form a close-knit community of engaged philanthropists who will drive forward a new era of social responsibility. We envisage that the Indian Philanthropy Forum will grow to become a nationwide organization where likeminded individuals will come together year upon year to create significant social change through strategic philanthropy.

We provide the motivation, expertise and tools to achieve these aims. We host quarterly tactical giving workshops; ongoing roundtable discussions with NGO leaders; site visits to leading NGOs; opportunities to mentor social entrepreneurs and provide professional, well researched reports on key poverty issues, identifying gaps and investment needs. The India Philanthropy Forum concept is built upon well established models in the USA and Europe, and we will continue to share best practice with similar international organizations and engage with them on common issues.

For members who are ready to become an active funder, Dasra has giving circles where members can come together to pool funds and invest in incredible NGO’s to create greater long term impact.
